Once again the stars are aligned and the music is on a roll...Monday night at Chef John's in Jupiter and Mark Hummel is taking us on a tour of roads he has been down... and most, more than once. Tonight was not one of those evenings that he brought along the other world's best harp players in a BLOWOUT, but he certainly brought other players of the highest caliber. Rusty Zinn, a player respected by all..., Willie Panker on the drums who is soooo darn good ( you can hear him on Piano Bob's next CD out of NOLA!) and MR. R.W. GRIGSBY....who doesn't have to play loud to be heard - and, I have said it before and I will say it again and again... the bass players are ALWAYS the coolest cats in the band! Well, as great as this was, I must tell you, a hush fell over the room when Terry Hanck came in - and prayers were answered when later on he went back to the car to grab the horn. Hard to tell you what you missed people! A whole second set of Chicago blues-headed-west-to-California-and-back-to-FLA! There were some minor mumblings from the stage about not enough people dancing...but I can only imagine that thoughts were totally on absorbing the music. Jazz & Blues Florida has penciled this night in as a potential TOP THREE shows for 2010...we got a ways to go, but not many get entered on that list! Thanks Chef John & Mark! PS- we put up some short clips on our YouTube site if you want to catch some really poor quality vid of a high quality show!
